Enrico Pontelli, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, USA

E-mail: epontell [at] cs.nmsu.edu

This project, recently started at NMSU as a collaboration between researchers in Computer Science, Psychology, and Mechanical Engineering, is aimed the creation of an integrated hardware and software environments to enhance accessibility of mathematics. The environment attempts to integrate analytical presentations of mathematics
(e.g., formulae, definitions, theorems) and exploratory uses of mathematics (e.g., through exercises, practises, and haptic access to diagrams and charts). The resulting tool is aimed at high school and college level students with moderate to severe visual impairments.
