CSUN '09 Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference
The 24th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference will be held
March 16-21, 2009 at the Los Angeles (USA) Airport Marriott & Renaissance Montura Hotels.
During the conference there will be presentations of experts, discussing trends in assistive technology and persons with disabilities, while also highlighting adaptive technology for aging and international practices.
Keynote Speaker
The Keynote Speaker of this year conference will be Anthony Coelho.
Mr. Anthony Coelho, a former U.S. Congressman from California, was the primary author and sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Eminently respected and experienced as a force and leader in the disabilities arena, Mr. Coelho will address the future of emerging leaders, the impact of change, and how these issues will affect the continuing goal in achieving global inclusion and technology for all.
The Keynote Address & Welcome Reception will be held Tuesday night, March 17th, at the
Exhibit Halls Opening Reception.
Exhibit Halls
The Exhibit Halls will open on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:00-7:00 pm for the popular preview and reception time for your enjoyment. The exhibits will be open again on Thursday and Friday from 9:30 am-5:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am-1:00pm.
Partners and collaborators talks
Klaus Miesenberger from Linz University - Institute Integriert Studieren - will give some talks entitled "The missing link? Design for All Elements in ICT Education Fostering eInclusion", "Joint Study Programme on Accessible Web Design".
Dominique Archambault, from Pierre et Marie Curie Université, Paris, will give a talk about the creation of accessible documents using free software: "Preparing Accessible Documents at the DTBook Format Using Free Software". He will also give a talk entitled "Open Source Software for DAISY - Today and in the Future" with George Kerscher and Markus Gylling.
Art Karshmer will present the AutOMathic Blocks system: "Using AutOMathic Blocks to Teach Braille Math to Children".
M. Suzuki (Science Access Net), Neil Soiffer (Design Science Inc.), together with Dennis Leas (gh Player LLC) will give a talk entitled: "Word, Math, and DAISY: It All Adds Up".
Joachim Klaus and John Gardner will give some talks as well.
